UVM Professor Anthony Gierzynski Talk

  • The Milton High School Social Studies Department is hosting UVM Professor Anthony Gierzynski on Monday, February 13 at 7 p.m. in the high school library. Professor Gierzynski will be giving a talk on American elections as part of the social studies department's speaker series. The talk is free and open to the public. Professor Gierzynski’s talk is titled: Saving American Elections: A Prescription for a Healthier Democracy. Professor Gierzynski areas of interest include elections, political parties, and mass media. Professor Gierzynski has degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Kentucky. He has published three books:Saving American Elections: A Diagnoisis and Prescription for a Healthier DemocracyMoney Rule: Financing Elections in America, and Legislative Party Campaign Committees in the American States. He has published several articles on campaign financing and been part of a team that has received grants to study the financing of elections at the state and local level. He has also appeared as an expert witness in a number of cases involving campaign finance laws. Professor Gierzynski is also the Director of the James M. Jeffords Center's Vermont Legislative Research Service. He is currently working on a book on the effects of the Harry Potter series on the Millennial Generation and a book on politics and the media.
