Milton is located 14 miles north of Burlington, with a population of 9,479 residents (based on the 2000 US Census). Milton covers approximately 38,336 acres, 60.9 square miles, with an altitude of 320 feet. Land square miles equal 51.5 and water square miles equal 9.4. In 2000 the Town of Milton was the largest Town in Chittenden County and the tenth largest in the State based on land area. The 2006 Census Population Estimate is estimated at 10,347 and we are still the ninth largest Town in the State based on population according to the US Census Bureau www.cenus.gov.
