Stuck In Vermont 0109

Rough Francis plus Waylon Speed plus fresh vinyl. Drop the needle, this record is hot.

Justin Crowther started pressing vinyl at Burlington Record Plant this summer - one of the few spots in the country still doing this. Local punk band Rough Francis stopped by on a Thursday night to watch an orange repressing of their album Maximum Soul Power. Brothers Bobby Jr, Julian and Urian Hackney were recently featured in the documentary, A Band Called Death, which chronicles the saga of their father Bobby's seminal '70s punk band.

Justin also plays drums in the band Waylon Speed with his brother Noah - and his band members were hard at work Thursday night packaging records. Arguably the two biggest bands in Vermont, the groups are also friends and they share a mutual love of vinyl.

Weeks later we followed Rough Francis to Montreal to hear them kick out the jams at l'Escogriffe Bar Spectacle. You can catch them at the Monkey House on New Year's Eve and pick up some fresh Vermont vinyl.
