According to New York Times Theater reporter Michael Paulson, this is the year of Vermonter Shaina Taub. And Tony Award-winning composer Jeanine Tesori agrees. A performer and songwriter, Shaina hails from Waitsfield and now calls Brooklyn home. She is currently performing as one of the Fates in Hadestown, an off-Broadway musical created by Vermonter Anaïs Mitchell.

Earlier this year, Shaina performed some of her original music in Bill Irwin and David Shiner's Old Hats at the Signature Theatre. After her Hadestown run, she will perform in her own musical adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at the Delacorte Theater. Shaina is a Jonathan Larson Grant recipient, she released her album Visitors last year and regularly performs with her band the Shaina Taub Trio. This up-and-coming theater star hopes to leave her mark by composing a musical about the American women's suffrage movement.

Eva sat down with Shaina on a stoop outside the New York Theatre Workshop in the East Village to talk about her creative evolution and productive year.

http://shainataub.com/home
